An intentional move away from socials

To avoid the mounting concerns about social media use and behaviour I have decided to return to my web space. I have owned this space for over 20 years and initially coined the moniker Shadowsounds to reflect my dual interests in sound production and photography. I have a continued interest in this area and have dabbled both professionally and personally in both over the years. I have considered leaving socials for a while now, but despite its tendency to bring the worst out in people it is still an extremely valuable tool to keep connected with friends past, and abroad. I discussed this with a few friends, and have long pondered the point of posting anything at all… I’m less and less interested in virtue signaling and status games as I age and have become increasingly introspective and philosophical - traits that don’t lend themselves that well to broadcast. However, friends have mentioned that they enjoy seeing my updates from time to time regarding travel etc, so, for those who are interested, this is where my updates will live. I can control my environment here, there are no ads, my work is my own and it feels like a more personal and intentional way of communicating with people who have made the concious effort to find their way here and check in. I will keep my socials, and check in from time to time, but anything I post there will just be a link back to here!

Yes! I love this Greg- so proud of you and looking forward to seeing your posts here and finding more reasons amd avenues for grounded connection and expressions of substance. Already I feel my attentional energy nourished and the promise of the World Wide Web or just sociality and life being closer to reality. Of sorts.. Way to go and love your work! 💜
Good for you Greg! It’s an inspiring move - maybe I’ll do the same dinner time…. I hope the change brings a greater quality of life
